RESOLUTE’S CORY SIMPSON RECRUITED TO SERVE AS SENIOR ADVISOR TO THE CYBERSPACE SOLARIUM COMMISSION

Resolute EVP Cory Simpson, J.D., L.L.M., was recently recruited to serve as a Senior Advisor to the Cyberspace Solarium Commission – CSC 2.0 Project, a 501(c )3 organization that continues the legacy of the U.S. Cyberspace Solarium Commission, one of the most consequential, congressionally charted organizations in modern times. Founded in 2019, the U.S. Cyberspace Solarium Commission was organization created to “develop a consensus on a strategic approach to defending the United States in cyberspace against cyber-attacks of significant consequences.”

Cory served as a senior director for the U.S. Cyberspace Solarium Commission where he led staff in producing a comprehensive strategy for protecting the United States. According to an annual implementation report the commission released August 2021, 79.3 percent of the commission’s 82 original recommendations were on track for implementation, nearing implementation, or had been implemented.

As a Senior Director at the CSC 2.0 Project, Cory will continue to keep lawmakers keenly focused on U.S. cybersecurity and drive the recommendations, specifically:

  • Conduct and publish an Annual Assessment of legislative/executive progress on CSC recommendations
  • Conduct research and analysis related to outstanding CSC recommendations
  • Represent CSC positions/policy recommendations at conferences, panels, hearings

Additionally, the project will conduct research and analysis and develop policy proposals in five issue areas:

  • Cybersecurity in the Water/Wastewater Sector
  • Federal Cybersecurity Workforce Development
  • Continuity of the Economy Planning
  • Cybersecurity in the Maritime Transport System Sector
  • Cybersecurity in the Healthcare Sector

Cory was also recently appointed as an Adjunct Senior Fellow with the Technology and National Security Program at the Center for a New American Security, a Washington, D.C.-based think tank that specializes in the United States national security issues. Cory has more than twenty years of experience in government, the military, and the private sector at the intersection of cybersecurity, law, and strategy.  He has served and worked in more than 70 countries.

Prior to joining Resolute, Cory was selected to serve on two of the most consequential, congressionally chartered commissions in modern times. First as the principal legal advisor for the National Commission on the Future of the Army and then senior director for the U.S. Cyberspace Solarium Commission.
